Al-Jouf Municipality, in cooperation with Sadeem International Company, has launched the wireless sensing systems project on December 17, 2019. This project aims to develop and improve Al-Jouf Region, starting with Sakaka city, to achieve the highest environmental standards and raise the quality of life for citizens. Therefore, Al-Jouf Municipality has installed Sadeem devices for the direct sensing of floods and rains, and traffic monitoring, in order to ensure the safety of citizens and respond to crises and disasters in a more efficient and effective manner. This project covers five sites experiencing water pooling, particularly in rainy seasons.
In line with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program, Sadeem and Al-Jouf Municipality seek to contribute to raising the standard of living and safety, achieving the smart management of Al-Jouf Municipality’s facilities, ensuring the sustainability of the resources, and achieving excellence in government’s performance.
Sadeem is a wireless sensing systems company emerging from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. It started in 2010 as a research group and is now the world’s leading company in monitoring floods and traffic in urban areas through the use of a wireless sensing technology that includes several patents within the field of sensing systems. Moreover, other systems have been developed to sense the environmental conditions and to monitor air quality. Such systems operate with solar energy and artificial intelligence software, communicate with each other and transfer data through wireless networks in order to reach users who can display such data on the geographic information system provided by Sadeem, in addition to mobile applications and LED screens for easy useful visualization.
The real-time sensor data can also be displayed on the visualization platform provided by Sadeem to its customers to enable them to view daily information and real-time indicators. Reports on floods and traffic can be extracted from the visualizer as well.
